About me

I am often amazed at how one small event can change the whole trajectory of our lives. For me, it was receiving a PlaySchool doctor's kit at age three. I helped friends and family members in my "clinic" and applied casts and gave out "Tic Tac" medicine to cure their ailments. I had found my calling and there was no turning back!

As a Florida native, my pursuit of a medical degree brought me to the University of Florida, where I earned my undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. Desiring to experience a true winter, I attended medical school at University of Michigan. It was there I developed my philosophy of treating the whole patient and acting as facilitator with patients in their care.

After graduating first in my medical school class, I returned to the South where I completed my residency in orthopedic surgery at Duke University. After falling in love with hand surgery, I gained further knowledge and expertise by completing my hand and upper extremity surgery fellowship at the prestigious Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center. I obtained my board certification in orthopedic surgery and practiced seven years in private practice in Florida and Iowa before joining Kaiser Permanente in 2024.

About my practice

I am a hand and upper extremity surgeon, which means that I evaluate and treat patients who have issues anywhere from their fingertips to their arms. I love this area of the body as it is very intricate, delicate and oftentimes requires reasoning and logic for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. For me, the most amazing part of my job is helping patients return to doing what they love. Our hands are our primary way of interacting with our world and issues with our hands can greatly affect our ability to enjoy life. My favorite compliment to receive from a patient is, "You have given me my life back!"

In terms of my practice philosophy, I view myself as a guide for our members. I truly believe in a shared decision-making process where I share my knowledge with my patients and, together, we come up with a treatment plan that works individually for each patient. No two patients are the same. I have expertise in all areas of hand and upper extremity surgery and enjoy employing minimally invasive techniques, such as endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery, which can allow patients to enjoy a faster recovery and return them more quickly to a life they love!

How I thrive

I thrive by helping people and trying to make the world a better place. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and twin boys. We love to explore the outdoors and parks, hike, travel, and watch football.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.

Information about a provider is provided to us by the provider or the provider's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process. Board certification may not reflect contracted services available from providers listed in our directory.
