About me

Since my childhood, I have had a passion for psychology, education, social work and social justice. I grew up in southern Virginia in a family of educators committed to community activism and empowerment through education. Following high school, I moved to Atlanta and attended Spelman College, where I received my bachelor's degree in psychology and later attended University of Georgia for my master's degree in social work.

As a clinical social worker, I have been employed by academia, hospitals, community clinics, governmental agencies and private programs. Some of the diverse and vulnerable populations I have worked with include: veterans, HIV/AIDS patients, chemically dependent adults, senior citizens, adolescents, child abuse victims, medically fragile and chronically mentally ill patients as well as individuals going through transitions in life. I am fascinated by the study of the human mind and behavior. I view my profession as a therapist to be a calling and an awesome gift that is filled with challenges, mysteries and responsibility. I feel very fortunate to work for Kaiser Permanente as a therapist and as a member of a great team in the Behavioral Health Department.

About my practice

I currently provide individual and group therapy for adults, specializing in clients with depression, anxiety, work/life stressors, grief/loss and self esteem issues. My approach to therapy is calm, grounded, attentive, open minded, non-judgmental, caring and compassionate. I practice in a client-centered style, which means I meet members where they are and adapt my style to best serve their needs. My therapeutic approach involves the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), positive psychology interventions and mindfulness interventions. CBT/mindfulness has been found to be helpful in managing stress, controlling thoughts and finding acceptance in things you may not be able to change. Results can be long-lasting and life changing. Positive psychology involves scientific study of the strengths that enable individuals to thrive. Because my faith is an integral part of my story, I also utilize spiritual perspectives in therapy for those who desire and request it. I believe that clients drive the treatment process and I see myself as the facilitator in the process. My goal is to help members develop and implement healthy coping skills that lead to improved functioning and maintaining a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit.

How I thrive

Periodically, I have been able to thrive by traveling to places near and far. I love experiencing the adventure of life in different locations and cultures. My happy places are: beautiful beaches, mountain hikes, cultural tours and peaceful gardens. My most memorable travel has been four weeks spent touring Europe and visits to South Africa, Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica, Barbados, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Maui and Oahu. I love to travel and take lots of photos to later reflect on the beautiful memories that rejuvenate and revitalize me.

I thrive daily with prayer, meditation and movement (yoga, exercising, walking). I enjoy listening to music and reading for pleasure. Most importantly, I thrive by sharing love and laughter during times spent with my loved ones.

The information in this online directory is updated periodically. The availability of physicians, hospitals, providers, and services may change. Before receiving care at a facility, select that location in our directory and verify the accepted plan types under "About this facility" to make sure it is available in your plan. If no plan types are listed, the facility is available for all plan types.

Medicare Members: To request a hard copy of Kaiser Permanente’s provider directory, please call our Member Services department at 1-800-232-4404, seven days a week, 8 a.m to 8 p.m. Kaiser Permanente will mail a hard copy of the provider directory to you within three (3) business days of your request. Kaiser Permanente may ask whether your request for a hard copy is a one-time request or if you are requesting to receive the provider directory in hard copy permanently.

If you request it, your request for hard copies of the provider directory remains until you leave Kaiser Permanente or request that hard copies be discontinued.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.

Information about a provider is provided to us by the provider or the provider's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process. Board certification may not reflect contracted services available from providers listed in our directory. If you have questions regarding this or about any of our providers, call us at 1-800-611-1811 (toll free). For the hearing and speech impaired: 1-888-865-5813 or 711 (TTY).
