Where I practice
I grew up in Wichita, Kan. I spent most of my life in the Midwest before moving to Atlanta to practice vascular surgery in 2001. My interest in vascular surgery began in medical school during my surgical rotation. The patients were always challenging and the procedures technically demanding. I grew to become more interested in all aspects of vascular disease including the non-surgical care. I love that, unlike many other surgical specialties, I can develop a long-term relationship with my patients and their families.
About my practice
I am a member of the Kaiser Permanente Vascular Surgery Department. Peripheral vascular disease involves both diseases of arteries and veins, including carotid artery disease, aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, and varicose veins. I keep myself up-to-date with the latest techniques for treatment. Currently, many members can be treated by minimally invasive techniques that do not require long hospital stays or even a visit to the hospital at all. Also, I feel that preventive care and management of risk factors, such as blood pressure and cholesterol levels, should be aggressively pursued. This includes educating our members on good vascular and heart health.
How I thrive
To take the best care of my patients, I recognize the importance of keeping a well-balanced life. Outside of my professional activities, I enjoy Arsenal soccer, KU Jayhawk basketball, music and all things electronic. Reading fiction, history and politics has always kept my interest. I love spending my time with my wonderful wife and beautiful daughter. I am in constant awe of how my daughter is both growing bigger and developing her own personality. I look forward to traveling and experiencing new places and cultures.
