Protect yourself from fraud
Please be aware of Medicaid renewal scams. If you receive a phone call, text message, or email asking you to pay for Medicaid renewal, don’t send payment. This is a possible fraud attempt, and you should contact your state Medicaid office instead. Kaiser Permanente and your state Medicaid office won’t ask for payment when you’re renewing your Medicaid coverage.

Renewing Your Medicaid Coverage

Important: Beginning January 1, 2027, federal law requires more frequent renewals and new rules for some people to keep Medicaid or Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) coverage. For the latest updates on Colorado’s Medicaid and CHP+ changes, visit the Health First Colorado website.

Once or twice per year, the state will conduct a review to determine if you and/or your family members still meet Health First Colorado or CHP+ eligibility requirements. This review process is called renewal.

Here’s how it works:

  • Step 1: The state will mail the renewal materials to you and/or your family members 60 days before your renewal date.
  • Step 2: Please fill out, sign, and return the forms, along with any extra required information. All information must be completed by the deadline provided by the state to avoid a break in coverage.

You will continue to have Health First Colorado or CHP+ benefits throughout this renewal process.

It is important to keep your information up-to-date. Visit colorado.gov/peak to update your address, phone number, and other important information, or contact your Local County Services Office.

If you no longer qualify for Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) or Child Health Plan Plus

You’ll have a limited amount of time to act to get other health coverage before your Special Enrollment Period ends. You should quickly see if you are eligible for financial assistance from the government by visiting www.connectforhealthco.com.

CHP+ members can call 1-800-359-1991 (TTY 711).

Losing health coverage such as Health First Colorado is considered a qualifying life event that would trigger a Special Enrollment Period. You are eligible to enroll within 60 days of that event.
