What to know about postpartum visits

You’ll have a follow-up visit with a member of your care team 4-6 weeks after you give birth. It is common for this appointment to be a virtual visit by a phone or video call. However, if you prefer or require an in-person appointment these are also available. During this appointment, your clinician will make sure you’re recovering appropriately. It’s important to keep this appointment, even if you’re feeling fine.

Feel free to ask your clinician any questions you might have. You’ll also have the chance to talk about any challenges you’ve faced during your recovery, whether they’re physical, mental, or emotional. If you need any follow-up care, we’ll work with you to make a plan for it.

At this first postpartum visit, we will also talk about your birth control options.

We often schedule this visit for you before you leave the hospital. However, you can schedule it on your own. Call our Appointment and Advice Line at 866-454-8855. You can also easily schedule a postpartum appointment online.
