About me
I love the sciences and arts and initially wanted to delve into the art of dance and the science of veterinary medicine. My interest in veterinary medicine soon shifted after shadowing a vet, as my interest in human beings began to grow.
I am the daughter of a midwife and health practitioner, and I witnessed the delivery of a child at the age of 8 at a home birth. My mother and her colleagues were blessed to have never lost a single child. My love for the amazing entity of the human body and spirit grew after watching the birthing process and the first breaths of life in the world.
I am born and raised in Atlanta, but each summer went to California to visit my family. I stayed in Atlanta to complete my medical degree and master's degree in public health at Morehouse School of Medicine. I am board certified in family medicine.
I continue to dance through life, though not professionally, and am tremendously grateful for the inspiration of my ancestors, family, mother, father, my late husband, the community in which I was raised, my husband and our 11 children.
About my practice
As a family medicine physician and public health practitioner, I enjoy a range of experiences. I provide an integrated and holistic approach to health by partnering with our members. I have worked in several sectors of medicine including rehabilitation, hospice, addiction management, public health and primary care. In 2000, I traveled to South Africa to work with non-governmental organizations that focused on the prevention of maternal fetal transmission of the HIV/AIDS virus. I served as clinical director of several clinics and assisted to develop an integrated approach between primary care and behavioral health within another clinic. I have been heavily involved in providing health care services for those living in limited access communities, in both rural and urban areas. I strongly believe the philosophy of "how to eat to live." I continue to work in the realm of influencing progress in advocacy, equitable agriculture and strong local food systems with the promotion of food as medicine.
How I thrive
I am full of gratitude and strive to practice the remembrance of gratitude each day I am blessed to open my eyes. Upon awakening my first thought is usually "Thank You!" and I practice saying it every morning. What a joy it is for my heart to beat without me asking it to!
I love working with the earth and grow food at home, as well as with the farm at my children's school alongside a wonderful group of farmers. Together we have learned the sciences of microbiology, cultivating, harvesting, nurturing, chemistry, irrigation, emotional intelligence, connecting, and even economics all through agriculture.
I am living in the philosophy of peace and Wabi Sabi, which is the understanding of it is what it is and the acceptance of that.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
