About me
Having grown up and lived in various parts of the world, the field of psychiatry has granted me the opportunity to learn, listen and understand people from all walks of life.
Similar to the vibrant, multicultural city of Atlanta, Toronto, Canada is where I consider home. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto and then went on to pursue my medical education in the Caribbean. During my adult psychiatry residency training, I also completed a fellowship in psychoanalytic psychodynamic psychotherapy to enhance my understanding and education in providing evidence-based therapy.
In addition to providing clinical care, my interests lie in teaching, mentoring and advocating for improved access to mental health care for all. In my previous role, I served as the associate program director for the adult psychiatry residency program and actively participated in resident and medical student education with a focus on physician wellness and equity in medical education.
About my practice
In my role at Kaiser Permanente, I am excited to provide patient-centered care in the adult psychiatry outpatient practice My care philosophy includes listening to and understanding patients through their lifespan, fostering and cultivating the therapeutic alliance and meeting patients where they are. I utilize both medication management and therapeutic techniques to provide care that is unique and tailored to each patient experience. The collaborative and integrative nature of the Kaiser Permanente system gives me the chance to work with other team members in providing coordinated and timely care. My special interests lie in promoting women's mental health, acute care psychiatry, and advocating for greater access of mental health services in marginalized communities.
How I thrive
Whether it is traveling with my family, discovering new restaurants, or catching a live comedy show, I am always up for something that brings people together and makes us laugh. I am also passionate about the outdoors - exploring Atlanta's scenic trails and venturing through National Parks are some of my favorite ways to recharge. On the creative side, I enjoy antiquing, interior design, and visiting local art galleries, where I find inspiration in the stories behind each piece.
