About me
I was born in South Korea, but Boston truly feels like home since I spent my formative years there. My journey into medicine started with an incredible high school biology teacher who challenged us in the best way. His classes in biology and human anatomy made us appreciate the intricacies of life and life sciences, revealing just how beautifully complex the world is. His influence was so strong that many of my classmates pursued careers in the biological sciences! After completing my medical training in NYC, I spent 15 wonderful years practicing in Raleigh, N.C. Raleigh is such a fun city, and I loved my time there. But I always knew I wanted to experience another big city, so we chose the Atlanta area to raise our family for its vibrant, diverse culture.
About my practice
The Kaiser Permanente Pain Management Department is dedicated to providing caring and evidence based care to help manage acute and chronic pain of our members. While dealing with pain can be difficult, our team is here to help our members navigate through different modalities to reduce pain and improve function.
Having trained in anesthesiology-pain medicine, I help offer interventions to help our members manage pain. I also chose to become board certified in addiction medicine to help those who may struggle with concurrent addiction while dealing with pain. We have a caring and supportive team, and I am fortunate to work alongside outstanding people who really want to make a difference in people's lives.
How I thrive
Spending time with my two kids and wife brings me purpose and enjoyment in life. They are the constant inspiration for me to be the best version of myself. I also enjoy being involved in our church. Volunteering and staying involved in our church helps keep our family grounded and feel blessed with what has been given to us. While each day brings different challenges, I truly believe, we just need to take a deep breath and appreciate what we have.
One last thing you should know about me is that I will always cheer for my hometown teams: Go Boston Celtics and New England Patriots!

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
Information about a provider is provided to us by the provider or the provider's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process. Board certification may not reflect contracted services available from providers listed in our directory. If you have questions regarding this or about any of our providers, call us at 1-800-611-1811 (toll free). For the hearing and speech impaired: 1-888-865-5813 or 711 (TTY).
