About me
I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I moved to Baltimore, Maryland, in 2006, where I completed both medical school and pediatrics residency at Johns Hopkins. Upon completion of my medical training in 2013, I moved to Denver to start my pediatrics career. I briefly worked at a small private practice for one year before joining Kaiser Permanente in September 2014. I decided to become a pediatrician when I was just 9 years old. Ironically, my inspiration to pursue pediatrics first came from experiences with my own pediatrician. Not only did her similarly spelled name help me imagine myself as a physician (perfect simplicity for a 9-year-old), but also her gentle demeanor instilled in me a sense of familiarity. Her ability to be relatable to both my parents and me was remarkable. Every day, I strive to embody these same characteristics, and I am grateful for the opportunity to do so. My inspiration now comes from my patients. I am continually impressed (and pleasantly surprised) by the honesty, innocence, happiness, and impressionability of each child I meet. To see how these qualities change as each child grows into adulthood is priceless. I simply could not imagine doing anything else!
About my practice
I believe strongly in both the value and importance of continuity of care and preventive medicine. I strive to develop long-term relationships with patients and their families, as I believe this best promotes patient-centered care. If my patients and their families do not readily identify me as the point-person for facilitating all aspects of their medical care, then I have not fulfilled my personal standard of medical practice. I believe having one primary care provider allows for optimal quality of medical care, engendering trust in patient-physician interactions. Well-child care, though seemingly simple and “routine,” is perhaps the most integral and rewarding aspect of my practice. With appropriate surveillance, I am able to promote healthy living by embracing childhood development, growth and maturation through education on safety, nutrition and physical activity. Though I aim to prevent disease whenever possible, illness is not always avoidable. I have expertise in treating a wide array of maladies from common pediatric conditions (such as asthma, ADHD, colds/flu, ear infections, constipation, abdominal pain, etc.) to more complex pediatric diseases (requiring coordination of care with multiple pediatric sub-specialists).
How I thrive
I stay well by emphasizing balance between my professional and personal endeavors. Stepping back and allowing yourself to reflect, even if only for a brief moment each day, can be the difference between mounting stress and absolute contentedness. I “step back” by reading a book from my favorite author Jane Austen, stretching muscles I forgot I had through yoga, and hiking through beautiful Colorado. Sometimes I need a little nudge to help me “step back,” for which I turn to the amazing friends I have made over a lifetime of education – from elementary school to medical school. Most importantly, I spend as much time as I can with my family!

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
