About me
I was drawn to the field of orthopaedic surgery early in life. At the age of 20, while still living in New York, I sustained a scaphoid fracture playing college rugby. Unfortunately, after several re-injuries the fracture went on to non-union. I decided to do research on non-unions at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, which furthered my interest in bones and bone healing. Ultimately, after reaching my goal of becoming an orthopedic surgeon, I was fortunate to find a position where I was able to teach others and helped train a generation of orthopedic surgeons that practice here in Georgia as well as many other parts of the country.
About my practice
My practice encompasses the treatment of hip, knee and shoulder injuries. Over the years, having seen numerous changes in orthopaedic surgery, I have accumulated many tools in my toolbox. I believe that when possible a conservative, non-invasive treatment plan is prudent, but when pain is not well controlled or activities are significantly limited a surgical option is frequently the best course of action. Arthroscopic surgery is frequently employed in my practice, leaving small scars, while making big gains. When arthroscopic surgery is not an option, I perform arthroplasties (joint replacements) of the shoulder, hip and knee including unicondylar or partial knee replacements. My goal is always to keep the goals of my patient in mind. I look at the patient-doctor relationship as a team, and by working together we can ultimately create a game plan that will result in improved function and diminished pain.
How I thrive
I thrive when spending time with family and friends. I have three children that I am extremely proud of and enjoy watching them become engaged, aware citizens of the world. I enjoy charitable endeavors and have helped build homes here in Atlanta, deliver food to the needy, taken an ice bath challenge for Alzheimer's Disease, walked for Osteogenesis Imperfecta and supported finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis, cancer and heart disease. I am a World War II buff (my dad was a veteran) and enjoy watching documentaries even if it bemoans my children. It drives home the point that some times education can and should be fun (although they might see it differently).

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
Information about a provider is provided to us by the provider or the provider's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process.
