About me
I was born and raised in Stockton, Calif., and I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of California - Davis. As an undergrad, I was a varsity athlete on the UC-Davis Aggies football team. Following college, I attended the University of California - San Francisco School of Medicine. It was after medical school that my love for the South developed. I completed my residency at Duke University in Durham, N.C. After about three years in the southeast region, my wife and I realized just how much we enjoyed Southern hospitality. While at Duke, I served in an assistant team physician role for all of the Duke intercollegiate athletic teams, including the Duke Blue Devils men's basketball and football teams. I completed my fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the Southern California Orthopeadic Institute (SCOI). I have also authored several peer-reviewed leading orthopaedic manuscripts including articles on ACL-reconstruction, rotator cuff repair and treatment of injuries to the meniscus.
About my practice
My practice is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of orthopeadic injuries. I am fellowship trained in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery and specialize in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee and ankle. I am versed in the treatment of orthopaedic conditions that hinder athletes, including knee and shoulder problems. My goal is for our members to leave my practice with a better understanding of their problem, along with the appropriate tools to make an informed decision regarding their treatment options. I have a particular interest in the treatment of rotator cuff tears, including massive and "irreparable" tears, as well as complex knee problems including ACL tears. I have treated patients from all walks of life including professional and elite athletes, weekend warriors and other sports enthusiasts. In each of these encounters, it has been my goal to restore function and well-being to my patients in a timely manner.
How I thrive
I am an avid runner and have completed multiple marathons including the Big Sur Marathon. Additionally, I love the outdoors, and I enjoy hiking, snowboarding and going to the beach. Service to others is one of my top priorities. I continue to mentor underrepresented students in medicine as well as serving underprivileged patient populations. My wife and I also stay active in our local church community.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
