About me
I was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada's capitol. I also had the opportunity to live and travel in Europe with my family while growing up. I received my bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Ottawa. I completed a family medicine residency at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and I decided to remain in Montreal working in the emergency room as an assistant professor through McGill's Department of Family Medicine. I very much enjoyed teaching medical students and interns both in the emergency room and in a McGill affiliated family practice, until I moved to Georgia in June 2007 and joined Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
I view my role as a teacher, partner and advocate for our members. I enjoy investing time getting to know members and helping them understand their issues so they may make healthy, empowered decisions. I know that my patients appreciate my experience, and my willingness to keep my mind open.
I believe strongly in preventive medicine. I also feel that good management of chronic medical conditions can greatly improve quality of life and can prevent further complications. I try to balance members' own concerns with the risks determined by genetics, physical and social environments, behaviors and their past medical history.
Promotion of healthy ways to reduce stress is very important. One of the reasons I chose to practice at Kaiser Permanente is the integrated health care model. As Kaiser Permanente physicians, we are privileged to work with an electronic medical record system that is unparalleled. Together, with our integrated network of diagnostic services, specialists, pharmacy services and health education programs, it is a very powerful tool used to benefit members. I feel that my philosophy of medicine, including prevention, education, teamwork and excellence in care, is shared and promoted by the organization.
How I thrive
I am constantly trying to find balance in my life, which like most people, can be challenging. Living in Atlanta and being able to walk or cycle to the restaurants, galleries, shops and parks, is something that reminds me of home. I do miss my extended family, but appreciate the trips home to visit with them all the more.
I am a good cook, and this has been one way to fulfill some of my creative urges. Sharing good food with friends also brings a lot of happiness.
I really enjoy being outdoors, and I like swimming, cycling and hiking, which are possible for most of the year in the great climate we have in Georgia. When the weather is inclement, I usually make it to our local gym.
When I have time all to myself, I am happiest reading a book, especially outdoors, and I try to have at least one good book with me at any time.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
