Kaiser Permanente’s priority is the safety and care of our members, staff, and the communities we serve.
Measles is a highly contagious, airborne viral illness that:
- Spreads easily to others
- Causes symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes
- Typically causes a rash that appears a few days after the first symptoms begin
This disease is preventable by the two-dose MMR vaccine which is more than 97% effective and safe. Kaiser Permanente strongly urges all parents to make sure their children are up to date on their immunizations for measles and other vaccine preventable diseases. Adults should also review their vaccine history and contact their care team if they have questions. Prevention of this disease is the best way to stop measles in its tracks.
If you or your family have not been vaccinated, were exposed to measles, or have symptoms, please wear a mask and call our 24/7 Nurse Advice line at 303-338-4545 or 1-800-218-1059 (TTY 711) for urgent medical advice.
