Value Plan

Understanding the Value Plan

$0 virtual care. Predictable copays for your first 3 office visits.1 Online tools and resources, many at no cost. With the Value Plan, it’s all yours from day one. And it’s all here to help you get the care you need and to make choices that are right for your health — not just right for your budget.

How the Value Plan works

The Value Plan is a type of deductible plan that offers several ways to get care at a lower cost — or no cost — even before you meet your deductible. Whether you need care right away or are planning for care you might need later, you’ve got peace of mind knowing you’re covered.

Preventive care visits

Preventive care visits help keep you healthy and catch health problems early. Examples of preventive care visits include:

  • Routine physical
  • Blood pressure screening
  • Child immunizations to help prevent chickenpox, measles, etc.

Some diagnostic care or treatment services might happen during a preventive care visit and come with additional costs. Learn more.

Virtual care that fits your life

No-cost virtual care connects you to a wide range of doctors and specialists
wherever it works best for you. Examples include:2

  • Meeting a doctor face-to-face by video to treat an eye infection
  • Getting mental health care with a therapist over the phone
  • Emailing your Kaiser Permanente care team pictures of a rash — and getting a prescription without visiting the office.

Plus, all your Kaiser Permanente doctors can see — and update — your electronic health record. This helps them work together to ensure you get the right care at the right time, no matter what care option you choose.

Additional in-person primary care visits

After your third in-person primary care visit, you’ll need to pay the full cost for additional in-person primary care visits until you meet your deductible. Once you do, you’ll likely pay a copay or coinsurance. But keep in mind that many of these visits can be done by phone or video at no cost. Examples of in-person primary care include:

  • Visiting your personal doctor for back pain
  • Following up about your child’s cold at the pediatrician’s office
  • Seeing your therapist for a personal counseling session
In-person specialty care visits

If you need to see a specialist in person, you’ll need to pay the full cost of the service until you meet your deductible. But keep in mind that some specialists are available by phone2 or video2 at no cost. Examples of specialist services include:

  • A consultation with a cardiologist
  • An eye exam with an ophthalmologist
  • Getting treatment from a dermatologist
