Where I practice
Thank you for visiting my Web page. I am proud to be a member of the continuing care services department at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California (in my opinion, America's finest city). Our department provides services to members who require assistance with placement in skilled nursing facilities and long-term care. We are specialists in this area. We are all eager to help you make informed choices and good decisions in these important and sometimes difficult matters.
Before joining Kaiser Permanente in 2004, I was in practice for nearly 20 years in Arizona. I began practice there as a nephrologist (kidney specialist), but over the years became more drawn to general internal medicine and geriatrics. My position at Kaiser Permanente allows me to use the variety of skills and experience from my previous practice and training to benefit our members in continuing care. I believe it is important to view each of our members as part of a full continuum of his or her life, not just a single "snapshot in time."
About my practice
We have a dedicated team in continuing care services. We consist of physicians, mid-level providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants), social workers, support staff, and administrative staff. We all have specialized training in caring for older members and members with complex medical and social issues. We provide care for this very special group of members − those in skilled nursing or long-term care facilities − with respect for their individuality and their dignity. The physicians in our group also provide medical care to hospice and palliative care to members at home and in the hospital.
How I thrive
For relaxation, I enjoy travel, foreign languages, swimming, and bicycling. Working at Kaiser Permanente and living in Southern California allows me to maintain the balance of mind, body, and spirit that is essential to well-being.
