Kaiser Permanente and Renown Health: A new choice for high-quality care
Kaiser Permanente and Renown Health are coming together to improve health care and coverage in northern Nevada. This new relationship combines Renown Health’s trusted local roots with Kaiser Permanente’s national leadership in integrated, value-based care — delivering a seamless experience designed around you and your family.
Hometown Health, the health plan previously owned by Renown Health, will become Kaiser Permanente. Renown Health will continue as an independent, nonprofit health system.
What does this mean for me?
For now, there are no immediate changes to coverage, care teams, or benefits for current Kaiser Permanente or Hometown Health members. Members can continue to access care just as you do today.
Where will I be able to get care in Nevada?
Work is already underway to bring Kaiser Permanente’s leading care and coverage to northern Nevada communities. Nevada residents will have access to care in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, Storey, and Washoe counties, as well as in the Nevada portions of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
In these areas, you’ll soon have access to Kaiser Permanente’s coordinated care — including primary and specialty care, labs, and radiology — all under one roof, plus access to a full spectrum of Renown Health services.
When can I enroll for Kaiser Permanente coverage in northern Nevada?
Kaiser Permanente will offer health plan options in northern Nevada for coverage starting in 2027.
What’s next
- New options for Hometown Health members to access care both in Nevada and across Kaiser Permanente’s markets, including California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Oregon, Virginia, Washington state, and Washington, D.C. We’ll communicate with existing members as these new options become available.
- New Kaiser Permanente medical offices opening in Reno and Sparks starting this July.
- New health plan options designed just for northern Nevada residents, with open enrollment beginning in fall 2026 for plans starting in 2027.
- Kaiser Permanente retail pharmacies available in northern Nevada in 2027.
- Kaiser Permanente’s full digital health platform available in northern Nevada in 2027.
