Where I practice
About me
I am a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist with a long-standing commitment to advancing cancer care through clinical practice, education, and public outreach. I currently reside in Bellevue, Washington, where I care for patients at Overlake Cancer Center in collaboration with Fred Hutch. In addition to clinical work, I am a cancer lecturer, writer, and content creator, producing educational videos and web-based resources on a wide range of oncology topics. I founded LemonMD in 1996 to provide year-round, accessible cancer education focused on treatments, research, drug developments, and patient-centered topics such as chemotherapy side effects.
About my practice
My practice is grounded in delivering comprehensive, individualized care to people facing cancer and blood disorders. I believe that patient education and shared decision-making are essential to empowering individuals and improving outcomes. With a focus on both medical expertise and compassionate care, I work to help patients and families navigate every stage of the cancer journey with clarity and confidence.
Cancer Subspecialty Focus
My clinical expertise includes the management of complex hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, and benign hematologic conditions. I treat a wide spectrum of cancers including breast cancer, lung and thymic cancers, head and neck cancers, genitourinary cancers, skin cancers, and thyroid and endocrine tumors.
Collaboration on Multidisciplinary Teams
I work closely with colleagues across specialties to ensure that every patient benefits from a well-coordinated, team-based approach. Participation in tumor boards and multidisciplinary case reviews allows us to integrate diverse perspectives and develop personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that address the medical and supportive needs of each patient.
Professional Affiliations
I am an active member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), which helps me stay current with ongoing advancements in clinical care, research, and education.
How I thrive
With more than 30 publications, over 60 lectures, 25 educational videos, and an active oncology practice, I remain deeply committed to improving cancer awareness and expanding access to reliable cancer information. My passion for education continues to fuel my work—both inside and outside the clinic.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
Search Tips
- Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
- Check your spelling.
- Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
- Remove any location information from the search terms box.
- Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
