About me

I was born in Vancouver, B.C. and then grew up in Pullman, Washington. I went to college on the East Coast at Vassar College, where I studied English and Philosophy, after which I lived in New York City, working odd jobs and writing novels, short stories, and poetry. In 2015, I graduated with an MD and a master's degree in public health from Boston University School of Medicine. During my life I've lived in Austria, Chile, and England, and recently brought our child to Portugal and Italy before her first birthday. My wife and I share our house with our joyful near-2-year old. After years on the East Coast, I'm so happy to be back in the Pacific Northwest.

About my practice

I love working for Kaiser Permanente because of the collaboration between physicians across all specialties and between social workers, nurses, medical assistants, and administrators. As a family medicine doctor and competitive athlete, I encourage my patients to set goals for themselves and search out reasons for staying healthy and living active, well-rounded lives. I am interested in helping people find the why behind getting healthy, getting fitter, and changing their nutrition and health habits. I want to help people live happier, more fulfilling lives. I enjoy sports medicine, women's health, LGBTQ care, pediatrics, addiction medicine, and working with adolescents. I believe mental health and physical health are inextricably intertwined. I am also a Suboxone provider and have the experience and tools to support patients struggling with a wide range of addictions. To have the opportunity to engage with others and support them in living healthier and more fulfilling lives is an incredible gift.

How I thrive

My wife and I love running, bike racing, racing triathlon, and doing open water swimming; we also enjoy snow skiing and exploring the Pacific Northwest. I also love connecting people through exercise and am in the process of developing a community fitness group in Kent, WA, as I did in Boston, where I founded Forest Hills Runners.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.

Search Tips

  • Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
  • Check your spelling.
  • Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
  • Remove any location information from the search terms box.
  • Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
  • Try searching by specialty.
