About me
I was born and raised in Spokane before setting off to the Northwest and Midwest for my education and training. After completing my residency training in Seattle, I returned to Spokane. I have been married for 11 years, and have three children. I chose medicine, and specifically psychiatry, because I am fascinated with both the biology and psychology of the human experience. Each encounter presents unique challenges and satisfying moments, and I feel privileged to be in a career I enjoy every day. I am a part-time instructor for the University of Washington and the local psychiatry residency program.
About my practice
My goal for each patient is to leave my office with hope. Mental illness can so often trap individuals in negative thoughts and beliefs, and my desire is to help break some of the barriers to living a satisfying and productive life. My areas of specialty are depression, anxiety, chronic mental illness, psychosis, and medication assistance for substance use disorders. I chose my current position based on my experience in residency and past sports settings. I believe that teams can function well above the sum of their individual parts, and that is what I have experienced at Kaiser Permanente. This systems supports me in providing the best care for my patients.
How I thrive
I enjoy spending as much time as possible time in the sun. Spokane summers are great, and we try to get to Hawaii in the winter. I enjoy running, coaching, and cooking, and try to take a long walk or run daily. This clears my mind, helps me process earlier events, and prepares me for the rest of the day ahead.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
