About me

I was born and raised in the Seattle area. Before attending college at Seattle University, I discovered a passion for optometry. I went in for an eye exam and met a young female optometrist who became my mentor. Optometry felt like the right mix of my interests in math, science, and physics. It also gave me the chance to work with people and make an impact on their quality of life. I studied optometry in Oregon and later returned to Washington state to begin my career and to be closer to my family. I'm happily married to my high school best friend. We live in West Seattle with our cat, Poncho. Recently, I served as president of the King County Optometric Society, which helps promote affordable and accessible eye care for all Washingtonians. I continue to be an active member in other volunteer roles throughout the organization. I am also a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. I chose to join Kaiser Permanente because of their collaborative, team-based approach to care.

About my practice

My areas of expertise include adults, pediatrics, geriatrics, and contact lenses. I strive to listen to my patients' concerns and answer their questions. I want my patients to understand their treatment options and to be included in the decision-making process. Building relationships with my patients over time is very rewarding. I love getting to know my patients, and I feel like they are part of my extended family.

How I thrive

Spending time outdoors each day is a form of meditation for me. Walking, rock climbing, running, swimming, camping, and hiking are some of my favorite outdoor activities. I enjoy learning and speaking Spanish and traveling to different destinations within Latin America. I traveled to Costa Rica and Nicaragua to provide free eye care services.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.

Search Tips

  • Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
  • Check your spelling.
  • Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
  • Remove any location information from the search terms box.
  • Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
  • Try searching by specialty.
