What you need to do

Because you and your Medicare-eligible dependents will be automatically enrolled in a Kaiser Permanente Medicare health plan for individuals with no gap in service, all the enrollment details have been taken care of for you.

You should already have received Your Guide to Keeping Your Kaiser Permanente Medicare Health Plan. Keep this guide handy as it contains specific information related to your transition.

We'll be sending you the following important documents to help with your transition to a new plan:

  • Advance Notice of Termination Letter (the envelope is marked “Important Plan Information”).
  • Kaiser Permanente Medicare health plan benefit and cost information.

Take a moment to read these mailings, and let us know if you have any questions or want to make changes to your plan.

That’s all you need to do. There will be no lapse in your coverage or care.

When you need an appointment, have to check test results online, or need to talk to an advice nurse, just follow the same steps you’ve done in the past.

A note about Reimbursement Accounts and Subsidies

You and your Medicare eligible dependents may be able to use funds from a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), Retirement Reimbursement Account (RRA) or subsidy to help pay for premiums and approved medical costs with your new individual plan. Information about these financial options should be available in the transition materials provided to you from your group. Please contact the benefits administrator directly to discuss options, if available, based on your eligibility.

In California, Hawaii, and Washington, Kaiser Permanente is an HMO plan with a Medicare contract. In Colorado, Kaiser Permanente is an HMO, HMO-POS and PPO plan with Medicare contracts. In Oregon, Southwest Washington, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, Kaiser Permanente is an HMO and HMO-POS plan with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in Kaiser Permanente depends on contract renewal.
