Kaiser Permanente Washington's Gender Health Patient Advisory Panel has 12-15 members who meet four to six times a year to discuss the Kaiser Permanente care experiences — and how it can better serve our gender-diverse members. The Committee has been in existence since 2020 and is an important source of input for Kaiser Permanente Washington leaders.
Panel scope:
The Gender Health Patient Advisory Panel is an advisory group organized to promote, advise, and suggest:
- The panel’s purpose is to promote effective use of gender-based health care services within Kaiser Permanente Washington.
- Advise Kaiser Permanente Washington regarding ways to innovate care delivery for transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse patients.
- Suggest ways and means that the program can better serve transgender, non-binary, and gender- diverse health plan members.
Panel members:
- Must be Kaiser Permanente Washington insured members and maintain their enrollment in order to remain members of the Panel.
- Cannot be employed by Kaiser Permanente or the Washington Permanente Medical Group. Previous employees will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Must be over 18.
- Identify as gender-diverse, transgender, non-binary, or gender-expansive.
Kaiser Permanente Washington leaders will attend the meetings.
Panel recruitment:
We typically recruit for new members of Patient Advisory Panel to replace those who have completed their terms and to keep fresh perspectives on the Panel annually, in November and December. We seek Kaiser Permanente Washington members from a diverse background of experiences and time requirements are:
- Four to six two-hour meetings each year
- Two additional hours per year for orientation, review of materials, etc.
