About me
I'm native to the Seattle area and graduated from Redmond High School. I received my medical training in San Diego and New York and returned to the Northwest to practice orthopedic surgery. My wife and I have six kids between us, and they, along with our two dogs, make for a lively household.
About my practice
I became a doctor because I believe we only truly feel happy when we're able to help people. That, along with my love for science and a physician father, secured my commitment to this career that I truly love and feel so fortunate to pursue. Before working for this organization, I'd been a patient here. I've always believed in our mission to use evidence-based decision making in our daily practice. This allows us to recommend and offer the best, proven therapies. I also have outstanding colleagues and support to deliver the highest quality care we can. My goal is to relieve the suffering of my patients and help them restore function. I tend to be a fix it doctor, often providing the care and treatment of arthritis, sports injuries or complex fractures. It's immensely satisfying to see patients walking without a limp just a few weeks after a major joint reconstruction or return to their activities following a severe traumatic injury.
How I thrive
I love my work and life. Above all, this keeps me spiritually and mentally healthy. I'm a consummate camper and love visiting our nation's parks. I keep the clothes off my elliptical machine so I can use it, and when I can, go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing with my wife. A highlight of my year is volunteering for a local organization to play Santa Claus and deliver presents to families in need on Christmas Eve.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
