About me
I was born and raised in the Philadelphia area but my home is now the Pacific Northwest, where I have lived since 1990. I am married with four young adult children, whom my husband and I adopted from India. As the daughter and granddaughter of physicians, I was interested in medicine from a very young age, but explored other options before finally deciding to go to medical school. Following college, I taught high school for two years in the Peace Corps in Kenya. After returning from Kenya, I taught for two more years in inner-city New York in a program for newly returned Peace Corps volunteers, and, in the process, met my husband, who had been a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal. I then decided to attend the University of Washington for a master's in public health and subsequently for my medical degree. I did my family practice residency in Anchorage, Alaska.
About my practice
I spent the first 10 years of my career working in community and migrant health centers in rural and underserved areas. I delivered babies and took care of patients of all ages in the hospital as well as in the clinic, and I spoke Spanish with patients on a daily basis. I came here in 2011 because I believe that highly integrated systems provide the best care. My philosophy of care is to try to meet my patients where they are, no matter where that is. I strongly promote exercise and healthy lifestyle changes. I believe that honesty and trust must be the basis of the physician-patient relationship and I do my best to develop strong relationships while also communicating in a straightforward fashion. Medical interests of mine include maternal health, children's health, immunization advocacy, public health, and international health. I am especially passionate about immunizations, as I believe they are the single greatest achievement of modern medicine.
How I thrive
My hobbies include quilting, reading, and travel. My approach to staying motivated and healthy is to make sure I'm getting both sufficient sleep and regular exercise.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
Search Tips
- Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
- Check your spelling.
- Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
- Remove any location information from the search terms box.
- Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
- Try searching by specialty.
