About me

I was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in the South Puget Sound area. I earned an undergraduate degree at Whitman College in Walla Walla. Subsequently, I attended the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry. I returned to Western Washington, and I can't imagine a more beautiful place to live and practice medicine.

About my practice

I've been interested in eye care for a long time. When I was young, I wanted to be a veterinary ophthalmologist. Today, I'm proud to work for Kaiser Permanente, a health care organization that values patient-centered care and evidence-based medicine. My goal is for patients to leave the clinic satisfied with their eye care. I partner with patients in medical decision-making whenever possible. I also encourage them to ask questions so that they are more at ease with their follow-up plan. I especially enjoy treating anterior segment disease, including various types of conjunctivitis and uveitis. I am happy to work with patients from all backgrounds, which is one of the great benefits of being a primary eye care provider. It's rewarding when patients leave the clinic feeling valued, heard, and confident in the quality of care I delivered.

How I thrive

I enjoy staying active. My hobbies include hiking, running, practicing yoga, kayaking in the summer, and taking weekend trips to explore Washington state. I love spending time with family and friends, traveling to new countries, and trying new things. I stay healthy by exercising, learning how to cook new foods (especially vegetarian and vegan recipes), and spending time with friends. I also enjoy reading and viewing documentaries. I am inspired by the people around me. I always try to evolve by gaining more knowledge and experiencing different perspectives.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.

Search Tips

  • Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
  • Check your spelling.
  • Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
  • Remove any location information from the search terms box.
  • Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
  • Try searching by specialty.
