About me

Watching my beloved grandmother suffer from cancer in my youth inspired me to become a doctor. I promised her if she could only hang on, I would one day become a physician and take care of her. Sadly, fate had another plan. The pursuit of medicine for a girl from an Italian-immigrant family was not an easy one. Fortunately, I had parents who supported my dreams. While working in the South Bronx, I realized the language of sports was universal. As a family medicine doctor specializing in sports medicine, my professional life intertwines with my personal life. My husband, a professor at University of California, Berkeley, is also an exercise physiologist.

About my practice

I am excited to join Washington Permanente Medical Group. Working with an integrated medical group with state of the art medical record allows me to provide the best care possible for my patients. My approach to care is to collaborate with my patients and to tailor a treatment plan that will work well for them. Most recently, I founded a new department at Kaiser Permanente called Activity, Sports, and Exercise Medicine. We welcome patients of all ages and at various stages of activity and exercise. I treat patients with musculoskeletal injuries. My practice also focuses on prevention evaluation and treatment of sports-related concussions in athletes up to age 21, and exercise as prevention and treatment of disease. I am a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.

How I thrive

I love the outdoors and the mountains. My passion is skiing, and I enjoy serving on Doctor Ski Patrol at Stevens Pass. I also provide medical consultation to the International Mountain guides and Rainier Mountain guides. I have served as a volunteer physician at the Pan Am Games, the Goodwill Games, and the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. I have also served as a trek doctor at Mount Everest Base Camp.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.

Search Tips

  • Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
  • Check your spelling.
  • Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
  • Remove any location information from the search terms box.
  • Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
  • Try searching by specialty.
