About me
I was born and raised in Southern California, where I completed my medical education and residency training. As a child, I wanted to be a doctor, but it wasn't until medical school that I decided to be a surgeon. After my residency, I relocated to the Pacific Northwest and completed an abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center. This deepened my understanding of surgical interventions for diseases of the liver and biliary tract. I'm happily married to my beautiful wife, who also works at Kaiser Permanente as a family nurse practitioner. We have a playful and mischievous mini goldendoodle. I chose to join Kaiser Permanente because it's where I received my own care growing up, and I found it to be well-integrated and highly effective. It's an innovative organization that integrates primary and specialty care, so it's easy for patients to have their comprehensive health needs met.
About my practice
I focus on abdominal surgery, and have interest in surgical critical care, and diseases of the liver and biliary tract. I want my patients to know they're in good hands. Trust is critical to providing excellent surgical care. I value transparency and open communication. I want my patients to feel empowered with knowledge when making health care decisions. I take great pride in delivering excellent surgical outcomes. Being able to see people recover, go home to their loved ones, and do the things they enjoy is very rewarding. I'm grateful to partner with patients and help them feel their best. It's a great privilege to be able to have a direct and lasting impact on people.
How I thrive
Above all, I'm most motivated by my wife and my puppy, who make me laugh a lot. My wife and I enjoy traveling, tasting new cuisines, and eating Molly Moon's ice cream on rainy weekends. Some of our favorite travel destinations are Iceland, New Zealand, and Thailand. I also enjoy music composition, basketball, healthy cooking, and reading.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
