About me

I grew up in Saigon, a city in the south of Vietnam, and immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager. Growing up, I always thought of myself as an engineer, but fell in love with the intricacies and rigor of medicine. Through many events during my formative years, I learned of the power of medicine to transform not just a person, but also their family and community. I especially love the ability to connect with my patients on a personal level as a primary care doctor, which has led me to decide on a career in family medicine.

About my practice

I strongly believe that knowledge is a part of the treatment plan. As such, I make every attempt to equip my patients with the knowledge to take care of themselves. I know that the knowledge my patients gain will empower them to not just stay healthy, but also thrive. As a full-spectrum family medicine doctor, I also believe in treating the family as a whole, since we all share much with the people closest to us. This is not limited to genetics, but also daily habits like exercise, diet, and environmental exposures. With my background in public health, I place a strong emphasis on preventive medicine in my practice. This interest in prevention was what attracted me to the Kaiser Permanente model. As an engineer at heart, I am also fascinated by technology and how it transforms the practice of medicine. I am involved with Kaiser Permanente's effort to improve doctors' efficiency with our charting system. Being an avid outdoorsman, I have a strong interest in wilderness medicine, and I am pursuing a fellowship in this field.

How I thrive

I have always been a fan of the outdoors. Since moving to the Pacific Northwest, I have been involved in the mountaineering community. I volunteer with the Mazamas, a local mountaineering organization. On my time off, you can find me on a trail or a mountain slope hiking, climbing, or skiing. I also enjoy downtime by reading a good book or climbing at a local rock gym. I have a deep appreciation for our national parks, and have a goal to visit all 63 of them.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.

Search Tips

  • Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
  • Check your spelling.
  • Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
  • Remove any location information from the search terms box.
  • Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
  • Try searching by specialty.
