Where I practice
About me
I grew up in North Carolina and graduated from Princeton University. I pursued a career in medicine because I enjoy helping others, educating patients and health care trainees, and applying scientific knowledge to patient care. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, I was an associate professor of ophthalmology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, where I served on the full-time faculty for 10 years. I cared for patients with corneal diseases and cataracts at the University of Washington Eye Institute, University of Washington Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, and the VA Puget Sound-Seattle. During that time, I taught cataract and corneal surgeries to UW ophthalmology residents and directed medical student education for the UW Department of Ophthalmology, receiving teaching awards for resident education.
About my practice
Vision is an important aspect of our daily lives, and I enjoy the privilege of helping patients improve theirs. I strive to treat each patient as I would want a close family member to be treated. It is important for me to listen to my patients and educate them with the best, most relevant medical knowledge. Together we can make decisions that will help them reach their individual treatment goals. My subspecialties within ophthalmology are in corneal surgeries and diseases and cataract surgery. I came to Kaiser Permanente because of the organization's ability to deliver excellent clinical care by allowing specialists and primary care physicians to collaborate. It is a privilege to work within a Kaiser Permanente ophthalmology group that is outstanding and friendly. I believe that our integrated system has the capacity to deliver the best preventive and specialty care to our patients.
How I thrive
I love the outdoors, especially the spectacular summers of the Pacific Northwest. To relax, I enjoy photography, good coffee, and time with family. I also like to travel and explore regional foods.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
Search Tips
- Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
- Check your spelling.
- Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
- Remove any location information from the search terms box.
- Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
- Try searching by specialty.
