About me
I was born in Seattle, and grew up in Redmond. Both of my brothers and my parents still live in the greater Seattle area, and I'm thankful to call this beautiful corner of the Pacific Northwest home. My husband and I have three young children who love getting outdoors, art projects, reading and music. It is a great privilege to be a physician. Medicine provides intellectual rigor and requires deductive reasoning, and it is incredibly rewarding to help people in their time of need. After residency, I obtained my diploma in tropical medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I have worked in under-resourced settings in rural Kenya, and cared for Haitians in the Dominican Republic. I appreciate the role of story in medicine and write about and teach narrative medicine.
About my practice
I strive to partner with my patients, and empower them to reach their health goals. I aim to be an effective listener, diagnostician and advisor through building therapeutic relationships with each patient. I care for all ages, from newborns to nonaganerians. Caring for patients and families throughout their lives is a privilege and a joy, and makes for a rich and varied practice as a physician. My particular interests include narrative medicine, medical ethics and global health. I am thankful to work in a group that values evidence-based medicine and collaboration between primary care and specialty colleagues.
How I thrive
I appreciate the early morning as a time to exercise, write, and, in a very busy household, have quiet time to myself. It helps me prepare for the coming day, and allows me to be a better physician, mother and friend. I enjoy spending time with my husband and three young children, who keep me active and grounded. My favorite activities include creative writing, travel, camping and reading. I also enjoy running, and occasionally train for half marathons.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
