Where I practice
About me
I was born and raised in Seattle. My momís loving stories of the babies she cared for in the newborn nursery introduced me to medicine and inspired me to pursue a medical career. I earned my medical degree at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda Maryland. I was in the Army for more than 20 years. I am a retired U.S. Army colonel who served as a physician, flight surgeon, and ophthalmologist. Iím proud to have supported our U.S. forces while deployed to Baghdad's Green Zone with the 86th Combat Support Hospital in 2005.
About my practice
I believe that hard work and compassion lead to high-quality medical care. I strive to help patients understand their medical condition and their treatment options. Teamwork is extremely important in serving our community and in providing access to quality care. I am privileged to be a member of Kaiser Permanenteís thoughtful and innovative team of medical care providers. I provide surgical and medical treatment for patients with cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and many other eye diseases. I take joy in improving patients' vision with cataract surgery. My patients' vision is extremely important to me, and I love practicing ophthalmology.
How I thrive
My husband and I have a teenage son and an adult daughter. My favorite thing to do is simply spend time with family and friends. Some of my fondest memories are from our family vacations. I enjoy travel, playing the piano, painting, quilting, my book club, and being in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I try my best to eat right and stay fit. Iíve been doing triathlons since 2007. Iím not a fast triathlete, but itís satisfying to finish each race.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
Search Tips
- Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
- Check your spelling.
- Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
- Remove any location information from the search terms box.
- Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
- Try searching by specialty.
