About me

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and my journey in medicine has taken me across the country—from Virginia and Florida to Ohio, Michigan, and California. My wife and I moved to Seattle, Washington, in 2017, where we have built our home and are raising our family. She is also a physician with Kaiser Permanente. I graduated from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009 and have completed residencies and fellowships at Cleveland Clinic, University of Michigan, and Stanford University. I have always been drawn to the human connections that form the core of medical care.

About my practice

My father, a primary care provider, inspired me to pursue medicine. From high school through medical school, I often shadowed him and saw firsthand the impact of compassionate, relationship-based care. I am fellowship-trained in both medical oncology and palliative medicine—one of the few in the region with this dual training. I joined Kaiser Permanente because of its patient-centered philosophy, which aligns with my own values.

Cancer affects every aspect of a person’s life, no matter the stage. My practice focuses not only on addressing the disease itself but also on supporting the emotional, social, and spiritual needs that arise during treatment. I develop long-term relationships with my patients, taking time to understand their goals and values to guide treatment choices that are personalized and meaningful.

Cancer Subspecialty Focus
My clinical expertise includes gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer, lung and thymic cancers, head and neck cancers, genitourinary cancers, cutaneous malignancies, and thyroid and endocrine tumors. I also manage complex and malignant hematologic disorders. My training in hospice and palliative care gives me a unique understanding of symptom management and end-of-life care as well.

Collaboration on Multidisciplinary Teams
I am the Medical Oncology lead on the Kaiser Washington Colorectal cancer conference and the collaborative Supportive care conference. I also am a Kaiser Washington participant in the national Kaiser Gastrointestinal pathway group. Daily I work closely with a network of specialists to ensure patients receive well-rounded, coordinated care which is especially valuable for developing treatment plans for rare and complex cancers.

Professional Affiliations
I am a member of the and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) which helps me stay engaged with ongoing advances in cancer care, research, and education.

How I thrive

Outside of work, I enjoy live music, cooking, snowboarding, exercising, and spending time with my family. My wife and I love exploring different Seattle neighborhoods, trying out new recipes, and traveling when we can. I make time for physical activity after work and practice mindfulness throughout my day to maintain balance and resilience.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.

Search Tips

  • Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
  • Check your spelling.
  • Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
  • Remove any location information from the search terms box.
  • Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
  • Try searching by specialty.
