Where I practice
About me
I was born in Seattle and grew up in San Diego. I returned to Seattle in 1992 to rejoin my family and to begin my life and career in my favorite place in the world. I am married and have a young son and daughter. I came back to Seattle to begin practicing law, but could never extinguish my dream of becoming a physician. I entered medical school in 2000, started practicing as a surgeon in 2009, and returned to practice in the Seattle area in 2012. I absolutely love my job. In my community, I lead a YMCA group for outdoor adventures between fathers and their children to enrich bonds among families and friends.
About my practice
I am a firm believer in Kaiser Permanente's model of practice, where care is delivered in a coordinated, patient-centered fashion. Unlike most health care delivery models, at Kaiser Permanente, there are no incentives for the physicians to recommend unnecessary procedures; my patients know that my advice is solely for their benefit. The clinicians in Bellevue all practice in the same building, so I know almost all of my patients' consultants well and can readily coordinate care with them. My philosophy of care is first and foremost to provide the finest technical procedures and postoperative care to my patients. In addition, I believe surgery is a partnership and at the first consultation visit, I take ample time to hear about the patient's symptoms, discuss the patient's condition, and review the surgery that may be required. My specialties include surgery for breast cancer, hernia, biliary tract disease, and colorectal and anal disease.
How I thrive
My hobbies include golf, hiking, biking, soccer, and travel. I stay mentally refreshed and inspired by spending time with my family and taking care of the wonderful patients of Kaiser Permanente.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
Search Tips
- Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
- Check your spelling.
- Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
- Remove any location information from the search terms box.
- Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
- Try searching by specialty.
