About me
I was born and raised in Minnesota. After completing my undergraduate degree in Maine, I returned to Minnesota for medical school. I completed my family medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship training in Seattle. My husband and I chose to raise our two kids in the Pacific Northwest to take advantage of the vibrant culture and wealth of outdoor activities - skiing and hiking in the mountains, kayaking and swimming on the water, and rollerblading and scootering on the Burke-Gilman trail. Medicine has been a part of me since I was little, helping out in the Twin Cities Marathon medical tent with my sports medicine dad and physical therapist mom. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, I spent six months in Antarctica as a physician at McMurdo Station keeping the scientist and staff functioning in the extreme conditions. I also work with the Stevens Pass ski patrol, volunteer as Roosevelt High School's football team physician, and provide heart screens to students for the Nick of Time Foundation.
About my practice
As a physician in Antarctica with little resources, I realized the importance of carefully listening to a patient's history, spending time on the exam, and working with patients to reach their goal. Working here allows me to practice evidence-based medicine in an environment that is patient-focused and collaborative. I work closely with patients to reach a diagnosis and then create a patient-centered rehabilitation plan to return to, or start, an activity or sport. I feel that the most important part of any visit is education, which enables patients to better control their recovery. My favorite part of being a sports medicine physician is watching patients get back to the activities they love and achieve the goals they set. As a sports medicine physician, I evaluate and treat a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal injuries. In addition, I use exercise as medicine and provide sports concussion care, ultrasound guided injections, and chronic tendinopathy treatment.
How I thrive
I love to swim, ski (downhill, cross country, and backcountry), kayak, hike, camp, backpack, travel, and cook. And I love to do it all with my family. We take a family backpacking trip to Shi Shi Beach on the Olympic Coast every summer, and I look forward to when our kids are old enough to hike up Sahale Arm in the North Cascades.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
Search Tips
- Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
- Check your spelling.
- Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
