Where I practice
About me
I was born and raised in a small town in northern Michigan. Although I have lived in Seattle for 25 years, I am still a bit of a Midwestern girl. I have two wonderful almost-grown children and a menagerie of pets. I chose nursing as a career almost by accident, but when I discovered midwifery a few years later, I knew I had found my true calling. Helping patients bring their babies into the world is the most rewarding and important work I can imagine.
About my practice
I joined Kaiser Permanente because I believe in its mission of excellent, affordable, and evidence-based care. It has been a privilege to be part of a practice group with dedicated and skilled midwives, as well as supportive and collaborative obstetrics consultants. I try to meet patients where they are and help them make the best decisions about pregnancy, labor, and their overall health for themselves and their families. My practice includes well-patient care, contraception, and of course pregnancy care. The best part of my day is talking to patients about their hopes, worries - even the many discomforts of pregnancy. When I help someone feel a little better, explain how their body works, or share their joy at the time of childbirth, I know I am doing the work I was meant to do.
How I thrive
Animals have always been an important part of my life. I foster puppies for the Seattle Animal Shelter, and also do some amateur wildlife rescue. My family and I enjoy long road trips, but our favorite vacation spot is Hawaii, where I love swimming in the ocean and snorkeling with the sea turtles. Immersing myself in a challenging dance or yoga class or taking a long brisk walk in the Northwest drizzle is the best kind of therapy for me. Connecting with friends and my wonderful colleagues at work nourishes my spirit, and singing Broadway show tunes with my daughter makes me smile.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
