About me
I was born in China and have spent most of my adult life in the United States, including Boston, Chicago, and Minneapolis. I now consider the Pacific Northwest my home. I am passionate about raising awareness of sudden cardiac death, early defibrillation and public access to automated external defibrillators, or AEDs. I give talks about this around the world, to local communities, and to medical professionals. I also volunteer time toward improving systemic clinical training for cardiologists in China. I believe in patient-centered care and take the time in every appointment to listen carefully and connect with patients to provide the best quality care every day.
About my practice
I am a friendly and communicative doctor who uses open, honest conversation to connect with patients while addressing their unique health needs. I specialize in cardiac electrophysiology and am interested in helping patients with heart rhythm disturbances, a personal or family history of cardiac arrest, unexplained fainting, and advanced heart failure who have had suboptimal outcomes with conventional medical therapy. I have been active in cardiology research and have published many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters during my years at Harvard University, Northwestern University, Loyola University, and the University of Iowa. I graduated from Tongji Medical University in Wuhan, China, and completed a fellowship in cardiology from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. I am board certified in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. I have served as the president of the Chinese American Heart Association (immediate past).
How I thrive
In my free time, I enjoy traveling and meeting new people to learn about other cultures. I keep myself healthy by spending time in nature and staying active both mentally and physically.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
