About me
I think of Washington as my home, but I was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, and spent most of my childhood there. I've also lived in Chicago, Minnesota, New Mexico, and on the East Coast. My husband and I met as undergraduate biology students in Minnesota. We've been married for almost 20 years and have a son, dog, and 2 rabbits. My family is passionate about caring for rescue animals. We've adopted domestic rabbits, cats, and a dog from animal shelters and rescues. I've also been a small business owner and I've helped several employees advance their careers. I was inspired to become an optometrist by a close friend in the field. I liked the idea of actively engaging with people in a meaningful way every day and putting my biology degree to use. Working at Kaiser Permanente gives me the opportunity to work with other health care providers in a wide variety of specialties to provide high-quality care that puts the patient first.
About my practice
Our vision is incredibly important to how we live our lives, and it's rewarding to help people see their best. I understand the importance of helping someone read more easily, and I've been fortunate to watch a child smile when he saw his mother's face clearly for the first time. I treat patients of all ages, and I have extensive experience with geriatric, post-operative, cataract, LASIK patients, and patients with eye diseases. I'm fortunate to have long-term relationships with many patients. Helping families of several generations has been especially rewarding.
How I thrive
Our family loves exploring the Pacific Northwest outdoors. We hike, bike, canoe, sea kayak, and paddleboard. Snorkeling and scuba diving are other ways we like to stay healthy and active. We also love cooking. Recently, my son and I started to learn piano. I'm also an avid reader and I especially enjoy science fiction.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
Search Tips
- Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
- Check your spelling.
- Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
- Remove any location information from the search terms box.
- Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
