Where I practice
About me
I am a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist with more than 44 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders. I am committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care with compassion and clinical excellence.
Biography
I graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1978 and have practiced hematology and oncology across a variety of care settings. I currently serve patients in Seattle, Washington, and am affiliated with Kaiser Permanente Central Hospital. I work collaboratively with colleagues across the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington to deliver seamless, integrated care.
About my practice
My goal is to build trusting relationships with patients and their families as they navigate the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. I believe in shared decision-making and delivering care that aligns with each patient’s values and goals. I also provide urgent care services when needed to support timely interventions in the cancer care journey.
Cancer Subspecialty Focus
I trained at time when oncologists treated all types of cancer. Subspecialty oncologists were rare. I continue to be a generalist in oncology and hematology. I continue to treat most types of cancer and blood disorders relying on referral to my subspecialty colleagues for treatment of uncommon cancers and cancers requiring high acuity specialized tertiary care. I do have special interest in blood disorders and malignancies of blood, along with neuroendocrine tumors, and lung cancer.
Collaboration on Multidisciplinary Teams
I regularly participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case reviews to ensure that every patient benefits from the combined expertise of a diverse medical team. These collaborations help guide personalized, evidence-based treatment plans for patients facing complex or rare cancers.
Research & Clinical Trials Involvement
I support clinical trial efforts within Kaiser Permanente through alignment with national research networks and protocols. My commitment to evidence-based practice includes staying informed of ongoing advances that can benefit my patients.
Professional Affiliations
I am a member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), which allow me to stay connected with current research, evolving standards of care, and professional collaboration across the oncology field.
How I thrive
Outside of medicine, I jog about 12 miles per week, hike in the Cascades, garden, and read mystery novels.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
Search Tips
- Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
- Check your spelling.
- Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
- Remove any location information from the search terms box.
- Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
- Try searching by specialty.
