About me

I grew up in a small town in northern Wisconsin, where my parents owned a small organic farm. I later moved to Minnesota and completed my education in St. Paul and Duluth. Growing up, I thought medicine was the last thing I would do; it still amazes me that I ended up a doctor. However, when I was in college, my love of science and psychology gradually led me to medicine. It was the perfect way to combine science with my goal of having a real impact on people's lives. I did my residency training with Kaiser Permanente in Seattle, and absolutely loved it. I chose to join Kaiser Permanente because I believe in this health care model, and it feels right to work for an organization that's constantly trying to improve.

About my practice

My role is to be a health guide. My goal is to always meet my patients where they're at, provide options, and then guide them through making the decision of what's best for them. I see many patients who've been frustrated by past experiences with health care. Many of them have felt shamed or forced into a treatment that didn't work for them. I want my patients to leave a visit with me feeling like they've been listened to and respected. As a family medicine doctor, I'm interested in taking care of all populations, for all issues. My areas of expertise include women's health, maternity care, geriatric care, and mental health/primary care integration. Practicing medicine is so fulfilling for me because I'm constantly learning from my colleagues and my patients. Developing long-term relationships with my patients is very rewarding.

How I thrive

I like to recharge with anything that will get me out in the woods, like hiking, cross-country skiing, and kayaking. I stay healthy by eating mainly a plant-based diet, getting good sleep, and being as active as possible. Reading, yoga, and knitting are other outlets for keeping me motivated. I also attempt to grow a garden every year.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.

Search Tips

  • Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
  • Check your spelling.
  • Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
  • Remove any location information from the search terms box.
  • Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
  • Try searching by specialty.
