About me
I grew up and attended college in Montana. I am married, and we have a young daughter. My father died when I was in junior high school. My memories of that time period have inspired me to focus on providing compassionate care to patients and their families. We try to support organizations that are making a difference in the community, including Peace Community Center, the Rainbow Center, and Tacoma Rescue Mission.
About my practice
I have faith in Kaiser Permanentes delivery system. I believe that the coordinated approach to care, common values, use of evidence-based medicine, as well as and electronic medical records allow us to achieve the highest quality of care. As I see it, I am a caregiver first, and a physician second. I want to provide high quality care for my patients, but I also want them and their families to feel well cared for. I enjoy inpatient internal medicine, which means that I have the privilege of caring for people from all different kinds of communities. I particularly enjoy geriatric care. I enjoy the challenges of caring for complex patients, the relationships I have fostered with patients and their families, and being available to support patients during stressful times.
How I thrive
I have an interest in history-and this has influenced our travels. Our favorite destinations are Turkey and France. I enjoy reading, food, and wine. I believe that mindfulness and exercise are key elements in maintaining a sense of well-being. I try to stay active by running and playing tennis, and I would like to run one more marathon before I turn to shorter races.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
