Where I practice
About me
I grew up in Collinsville, Illinois, about 12 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri. In size and character, St. Louis and Tacoma have a lot in common. I've always felt most comfortable in mid-size cities, which offer a nice combination of access to metropolitan services while retaining some small-town feel. I moved to Tacoma in 2008. I am happily married and have two young children who keep me quite busy.
About my practice
After changing majors six times during college, I discovered a fascination with psychology. As I looked into graduate school, and worked a bit in the field, I realized that social work provided me the opportunity to most effectively connect with people from a variety of backgrounds. It has turned out to be the best choice for me, and has allowed me to share my own varied interests to connect with a broad range of people. Among the major benefits of practicing at Kaiser Permanente is the collaboration among disciplines within Behavioral Health (psychiatry, psychotherapy, clinical psychology, nursing), and also across all medical specialties. This health care paradigm leads to better overall outcomes for patients and a rewarding work experience. My clinical background is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), but I work to help match the interventions I recommend to the needs of the patients I serve.
How I thrive
I spend most of my time outside of work with my family, working to keep up with my two energetic children. I love to read--and I don't remember the last time I went a day without reading a book. I try to practice what I preach as much as possible. I work to balance productivity with down-time--and to enjoy the good moments all around us.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
