About me
I am native to the Pacific Northwest and married to the love of my life. We have two nearly-grown daughters who are amazing, challenging, and feisty - as well as two beautiful dogs that fill my heart with much joy. I have always loved childbirth and patients health. I was encouraged by other birth workers to become a doula after the birth of my first daughter, and also after assisting with the delivery of my dear friend's son.
About my practice
I am a Senior Fellow with Humanity in Action, an international human rights advocacy program. I also helped start a non-profit in Jamaica called the Blue Mountain Project, which operates free health clinics and other community programs. I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente because it supports patient autonomy and strives to provide excellent care while balancing costs, resources, and patient needs. In fact, I had my first baby here, and it was an amazing experience. In addition to patients health, I am interested in integrative medicine, adolescent health, gender/identity issues, contraception, holistic care, and complementary medicine, such us acupuncture and meditation.
How I thrive
I enjoy hiking, camping, dancing, snowboarding, circus arts, acroyoga, gardening, creating music, and making art. My approach to staying healthy is balance. I like to work hard, play hard, and have a lot of fun - dancing, building schools in developing countries, and feeding my family and friends from my organic garden. I consider myself a social entrepreneur. I am often volunteering for various organizations, or creating programs that aim to help out my community. I never shy away from an obstacle, and love to find creative solutions to problems.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
