About me
I grew up in the Midwest, but have been in the Pacific Northwest since the 1980s. I came here so that I could play outside year-round. My husband also moved here for the mountains. We spent our first years together skiing and climbing. After we had our son, we would bring him along. We like to say he learned to climb before he could walk. I decided to practice medicine because I like to be challenged daily and think rigorously and scientifically. I also enjoy working in a deeply humanistic field alongside similarly committed colleagues. I am a hospital-based internist, board certified in hospice and palliative medicine. I also served as Kaiser Permanente's hospice medical director and chief of nursing home services for many years.
About my practice
I've had a varied and interesting career with Kaiser Permanente. I enjoy practicing medicine in an environment where curiosity, creativity and continuous learning are the norm. I am surrounded by bright and skillful clinicians committed to an integrated and compassionate model of care. I have a collaborative approach to working with my patients and their families. I like to ask about their lives in order to develop a tailored care plan that fits their lifestyle. I am especially interested in hospital medicine, chronic illness, geriatrics and palliative care.
How I thrive
I play the piano, enjoy bird watching, cycling and cooking whole foods from my garden. I practice yoga regularly and enjoy traveling. A few summers ago, I went on a trip to see icebergs in Newfoundland. My approach to health has grown with me as I age. Now, I am most focused on getting enough sleep and cooking fresh healthy foods every day.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
Search Tips
- Can’t find your provider? Additional facilities can be found by searching under Locations.
- Check your spelling.
- Broaden your search by using fewer words or more general words.
- Remove any location information from the search terms box.
- Search by practitioner name (ex. ‘John Smith’ instead of ‘Steel City Chiropractic Group’).
- Try searching by specialty.
