About me
I have always been drawn to helping others and had early interests in health and science. I started my career as a psychologist as a full-time researcher focused on finding ways to help patients better self-manage chronic conditions such as chronic back pain and long-term care management. Because my father was in the military, I was fortune to live in many places including Germany, and I consider both Hawaii and Washington as home.
About my practice
Every person is unique with their own set of struggles and strengths. I try to meet each person where they are at and guide patients in their own path. I provide evidence-based treatment individualized to who each patient is and tailored to what might work best for them. I am a part-time researcher and a part-time clinician. Both aspects of this work help to influence and improve my skills and have led me to exciting work in diverse areas such as HIV, transgender care, chronic pain management, insomnia, and anxiety disorders. Kaiser Permanente is a progressive place that offers me the ideal setting to conduct real-world, practical, and important research that impacts us all. I have a diverse range of professional interests but I particularly enjoy helping people with chronic difficulties improve their self-managed care. Iëm also fascinated at the interface between mental and physical health. I especially enjoy working with patients and watching them improve, meet their health goals, and flourish.
How I thrive
My interests include volleyball, weightlifting, live music, cooking, hiking, and getting lost in the woods with my pet - Baxter the wonder dog - at least once a month. I am fortunate to be surrounded by great family and friends with a diverse range of interests. Trying new things and challenging myself with frequent goals is the way I keep my days fresh and fun.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
