About me
I grew up in Ferndale, Washington. I always found biology fascinating and was very involved in heart disease research during my college years. However, it wasn't until I took a course called From Bench to Bedside: The Roles of Science in Medicine that I knew becoming a doctor was my calling. I've never looked back. After completing university and medical school in Colorado, my family and I returned to the Northwest. My husband is a fellow Northwesterner, and together we have 2 young sons, who keep us busy and smiling. In my medical residency training, I was able to see various systems of practice. The Kaiser Permanente model was the most compelling, and I knew it was the place I wanted to work. Collaboration, efficacy, and innovation are key values of my own practice and are highly reflected in how Kaiser Permanente operates.
About my practice
My areas of expertise include dermatology, women's health, preventive care, and weight management. I believe that it's a privilege to care for each and every one of my patients. I strive to not only listen but understand each person's concerns and values. That way, we can create a care plan that will work for them. It's important to me to not only use my knowledge of medicine to educate my patients but to also learn from my patients -- they're my best teachers. I enjoy my work because I get to do a little bit of everything: science, communication, interpretation of exam and lab data, negotiation, partnership, and advocacy. I also get to be a part of a team whose entire goal is to keep people healthy, functional, and enjoying their lives.
How I thrive
My approach to staying balanced and healthy is to dedicate time to cooking healthy meals with family and friends, daily exercise, and good sleep, when my young children allow it. I love mountain biking, strength training, and walking around our neighborhood. Laughing and playing with my 2 amazing sons and lots of family time also keeps me inspired.

How we choose our network providers and hospitals
Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business, and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered, or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
