Help with downloading health summaries

Just select the Download My Data® Blue Button, and you’ll be able to download the health summary.

The file will download according to how you have set up your browser. If the downloads are set up to go to your Downloads folder, you’ll find the file with your other downloads. If your browser asks you whether you want to open or save each of your downloads, there will be a dialog box asking you if you want to open or save the file.

A ZIP file is a way to include several large documents or folders in a single file. Health summary downloads have a PDF and summary file compressed into a single folder so they can be transferred quickly. Before you can view the documents, you will need to unzip (expand) the folder.

Take a look at the name of the file. The file name should be HealthSummaryYYYMMDD with YYYYMMDD equaling the year, month, and day you downloaded the file.

If you downloaded more than one file on the same day, each of the files will have a different number at the end.

The member’s name is shown inside their file. We recommend renaming the file by adding the individual’s name after the date.

Yes. The file is created fresh every time you select Download my health summary and will contain any updated information.

Yes. The file will display the same allergy, immunization, health condition, procedure, test result, and prescription information that you see on our website.

A complete health record may include hospitalization information or a more detailed health history. If you want a complete health record, you can request it at a local Kaiser Permanente medical facility.

Your download will remain encrypted only until you unzip (expand) it. To continue protecting your data after you have unzipped it, locate the unzipped folder inside the IHE_XDM folder and delete it. Do not do this unless your download was encrypted.

To download details of a specific office visit or hospital stay, along with current allergies, medications, and ongoing health conditions, visit Past visit information.

You can carry this file to other providers on a USB drive or other transportable media. Be sure to copy the entire file and keep the medical data secure. You can also print an online health summary while you are viewing it by using your browser’s print function.

A portable health information document like our downloadable online health summary is called a Continuity of Care Document or CCD at some non-Kaiser Permanente facilities.
