Consumer Advisory Committee

Kaiser Permanente Washington's Consumer Advisory Committee has 35 members who meet four times a year to discuss the Kaiser Permanente Experience — and how it can better serve our members. The Committee has been in existence since 2017 and is an important source of input for Kaiser Permanente Washington leaders.

Committee purpose:

A. To increase communication between the program and its membership.

B. To promote understanding of patient priorities and suggest ways the program can better serve members.

C. To develop ideas for continuing programs of consumer education.

D. To offer advice on matters of policy and operation and other advice related to management decisions of major importance to the program.

Committee members:

  • Must be Kaiser Permanente Washington members and maintain their enrollment in order to remain members of the Committee.
  • Cannot be employed by Kaiser Permanente or the Washington Permanente Medical Group. Previous employees will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Kaiser Permanente Washington leaders will attend the meetings.

CAC application FAQ’s

The CAC is not a special interest group that focuses on one specific issue. It is an advisory committee that provides feedback on business topics that are determined by Kaiser Permanente Washington leaders.

Although hearing about your personal care experiences is important to us, this is not the appropriate committee. Meetings focus on business topics, not on personal care experiences.

You are welcome to re-apply. Please use the current application form and submit it by the deadline.

In addition to submitting an application, applicants are interviewed to learn more about their backgrounds, interests, and reasons for applying. A subcommittee of Kaiser Permanente Washington leaders will review the applications and make the final decisions.

The Selection Committee seeks applicants with broad backgrounds from throughout the region, so there are no preferences for applicants who have healthcare experience.

We anticipate that all applicants will be notified mid-late December.

Meeting dates have not yet been announced, but generally meetings occur 4-5 times per year. Meetings will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

We understand that members may not be able to attend all meetings. However, we ask that you strive to attend at least three meetings per year.

Selected applicants will be asked to attend a virtual orientation session that will be held on the same day as the first committee meeting of the year. Selected applicants must also sign a non-disclosure agreement that will be distributed before the orientation.
