HOW TO REGISTER:
Only available to Kaiser Permanente members with a diabetes diagnosis (Type 2). Must have an active MyChart account. Call Kaiser Permanente scheduling at 1-877-751-1053. A referral is required to register for this nutrition education class. Please be ready to provide your first and last names, and your Kaiser Permanente member ID.

ABOUT THIS INSTRUCTOR

Taught by diabetes specialists: a registered dietitian nutritionist and a population health registered nurse, this class offers expansive diabetes education for patients. Learn practical strategies for putting recommendations into action in real-life situations. 

Dates & times

Class is a 4-class series (2 hours each session), with new sessions starting each month. Please call 1-877-751-1053 to find the class start date and time that works best for you.

  • Class/session 1: Intro to diabetes, nutrition balance, the plate method, SMART goals
  • Class/session 2: Meal planning, food labels, monitoring glucose, hemoglobin A1c, physical activity
  • Class/session 3: Medications, shopping and dining out, hypoglycemia, reducing long term risks
  • Class/session 4: Problem solving, heart healthy eating, healthy coping, sleep, and stress reduction, evaluating data
