About Me

I was born in Tamil Nadu, India, and grew up in Maine and Alabama. I have a wife and two daughters. In addition to English, I speak Tamil.

I earned my medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. I then moved to Hawaii, where I completed my internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), serving as chief resident. Wanting to further my expertise in caring for critically ill patients, I completed a fellowship in critical care medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

I’m board-certified in both internal medicine and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

About my practice

My desire to help people, combined with my fascination with biology, inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. I chose critical care as my specialty because I wanted to treat the most severely ill patients. It’s gratifying to see how quickly some patients respond to therapy and to know that those interventions can make a life-saving difference.

I’m a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

I enjoy teaching medical students and residents and serve as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at JABSOM.

To stay up to date with the latest medical research, I regularly read professional journals and attend medical conferences.

Practicing with Hawaii Permanente Medical Group allows me to focus on providing critical care in a single, integrated hospital setting, where I can collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent care to critically ill patients.

What I find most meaningful is caring for patients and their families during such a vulnerable time – providing comfort, guidance, and direction when they need it most. That connection is both professionally and personally fulfilling.

How I thrive

In my leisure time, I enjoy swimming, hiking, travelling, playing music, and spending time with family and friends.
