About Me

As a Georgia native, I grew up in Waycross and spent many summers on the Georgia Coast, either at Tybee Island or on St. Simon's Island. Although my family and I go back to the Georgia Coast as often as time will allow, I now consider Atlanta my home. I lived in Atlanta while going to college and medical school, and I met my husband here. After being away for several years to complete further training in Miami (and enjoying the beaches of South Florida), we returned to Atlanta after starting our family. I have been in primary care since 2008 and started my career in the VA system, "serving those who served." I look forward to continuing to serve the members of Kaiser Permanente for many years to come. Practicing medicine is a privilege, especially in primary care where I have a unique opportunity to get to know our members as individual people and develop lifelong partnerships.

About my practice

I believe in an individualized and personal approach to medicine. It is essential to consider the whole person and develop the bonds of trust and mutual respect. I strongly believe in utilizing the latest research or data to guide treatment recommendations. Educating a person about a disease process or the recommended treatment can be a very powerful tool, and I try to provide as much explanation as possible at each encounter. We are very fortunate at Kaiser Permanente to have many resources for education and wellness to achieve our goals. Prevention, healthy eating and exercise are the keys to wellness. I do my best to practice what I preach in this regard by eating right and squeezing in as much exercise as I can. I also look forward to trying our Healthy Living Classes for Tai Chi.

How I thrive

Over the years, I have enjoyed participating in various volunteer activities including school functions, Habitat for Humanity, Atlanta Food Bank and Refugee Women's Network, as well as medical mission trips. As you may have already guessed, I also love the beach! Traveling domestically and abroad is also one of my favorite activities. My favorite foreign locations to visit include Peru, London, Italy, Israel and Jordan. I just renewed my passport and hope to collect some new stamps in the near future! The majority of my time away from work is devoted to my three children and my husband. We enjoy spending family time together on the weekends and sneaking in a nap whenever possible.
